St Alban's House

CES Limited tendered for and won a number of schemes to improve a three storey office block at a prominent site on Drake Street, Rochdale known as St. Alban’s House.

Firstly we had to remove a great deal of asbestos in the finishes of the building to make it safe for occupation. Then we installed a lift pit, shaft and roof to make the building accessible to disabled and semi ambulant office workers and members of the public. An aesthetically pleasing front entrance with ramps, steps and glazed atrium was constructed to up to date DDA standards.

The existing mechanical and electrical installations were brought up to Gas Safe and IEE Regulations respectively and all internal partitions were assessed for fire risk and modern fire rated partitions were installed to improve the office environment.

Finally comfortable and easy to clean kitchens and toilets were installed on each floor for the office workers who would work there.

Externally the car-park, paved and tarmacadam paths were brought up to DDA standard and improvements made to the façade of the building and external lighting for what has been noted by local authority officers as a much improved prestige office building in Rochdale’s centre.
